Here's another great thing to do locally. The Prince William Ice Center (in Dale City) is back up and running. You may remember it being destroyed a couple years ago when we had the Snowmageddon. It's roof collapsed under the weight of the snow. But, in a way, it may have been a blessing in disguise because the new facility is much better than the old one.
For one thing, they now use electric equipment to resurface the ice. So, no more of the fumes from the old gas-powered equipment. Another improvement is bleachers on both rinks and audio-visual equipment for coaches to use in training.
The new rink allows for youth and adult hockey; figure skating; speed skating; public ice skating; birthday parties; learn to skate lessons; group and private lessons; fundraising programs; scouting events; a full-service pro shop; and a cafe to eat in. The new facility is the only year-round ice skating rink in the area.
Prince William Ice Center is located at 5180 Dale Blvd.; Woodbridge, VA 22193. Their website is PW Ice.com. You can call them at (703) 730-8423.
So, be sure to check them out -- you'll find it's an impressive facility and easy to find -- right next to the Boys and Girls club on Dale Blvd.
