Top Ten Things To Do in Prince William County Virginia:
#10 -- Occoquan Fall Arts & Crafts Festival

For more than 25 years, the tiny historic Town of Occoquan (population 759) has been delighting visitors far and wide with huge outdoor arts and craft shows that are among the finest shows on the east coast.

The town is located on the Occoquan River, and has many fine boardwalk restaurants and year-round shopping.

In Spring 2010, the Occoquan Spring Arts and Craft Show will be held Saturday, June 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.

In Fall 2010, the Occoquan Fall Arts and Craft Show will be held Saturday, September 25 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.

During the shows, the streets of Occoquan’s Historic District are closed to traffic so that more than 200 contemporary and country crafters and artisans from Occoquan and around the United States can display their wares and give demonstrations. Both shows include local merchants, crafters, food and live music.

Also, both shows are juried; meaning only artists and vendors whose applications with sample photos have been accepted by a knowledgeable committee are allowed to participate in the shows.

With the Historic District closed to traffic, parking is available in three local commuter parking lots in Prince William County and one in Fairfax County. A shuttle bus service, running continuously every 15-25 minutes, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., is available for a round-trip fee of $4 per person. Children under 12 ride free.

Admission to both outdoor shows is free.
